Rehan M. Safiullah is an intellectual property attorney and counsel at Antonelli, Harrington & Thompson.  Before joining the firm, he was counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in the intellectual property group, with a focus on patent litigation and IP counseling.  Rehan briefly served as a clerk for Hon. Leonard E. Davis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in a judicial internship before joining Akin Gump.

Rehan has represented clients—plaintiffs and defendants—in a variety of disputes in courts across the country, including the federal district courts, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He has prepared appellate briefs and counseled on oral argument before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has considerable experience in patent litigation matters and has argued motions and taken witnesses on direct and cross-examination at trial. He has also successfully argued before the PTAB.

Rehan has been involved with matters in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, electronics, energy, and academia. He has also handled patent prosecution matters relating to physics, chemistry, electronics, and energy-related inventions and has counseled clients on IP transactional matters, including licensing, patent opinion work, patent acquisitions, and over-all IP strategy (including IP audits).  Rehan is a registered patent attorney.

Rehan received his J.D. in 2008 from Texas Tech University School of Law, where he was a member of the Board of Barristers.  He graduated cum laude.  He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston in 2005, where he graduated magna cum laude. During his studies, he was engaged in undergraduate research relating to aperture array lithography for medical applications.
